Thomas A. Gorman has specialized in criminal law for over 23 years and has been a criminal defense attorney in Arizona since 1987. Mr. Gorman is certified as a Specialist in Criminal Law by the State Bar of Arizona and recognized as Learned counsel in United States District Court. Mr. Gorman has a statewide trial, appellate and habeas corpus practice. Mr. Gorman has tried cases and/or defended citizens around the state including, Bisbee, Cottonwood, Flagstaff, Kingman, Phoenix, Prescott, Nogales, Page, Sedona, Snowflake and Tucson, AZ. Mr. Gorman has secured not guilty verdicts or secured outright dismissals for clients charged with money laundering, 1st Degree Murder, capital murder, sexual assault, sale of drugs, domestic violence, assault, theft etc. Mr. Gorman has defended his clients by using, among other defenses, the defense of entrapment, the battered women syndrome, mental health defenses and self-defense. Mr. Gorman has done pro bono work by defending death row inmates and/or defending pre-trial capital defendants since 1990 before State and Federal trial courts, the Arizona Supreme Court, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. As recently as 2003 Mr. Gorman appeared before the Arizona Supreme Court and secured the reversal of two death sentences. Mr. Gorman agreed to represent death row inmates Henry Hall and Leroy Cropper after they were convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Mr. Gorman successfully presented their case and secured a reversal of Cropper's sentence of death. see, State v. Cropper 206 AZ.153 (2003) Leroy Cropper is presently serving a life sentence. Mr. Gorman secured a reversal of Henry Hall's murder conviction and sentence of death. Henry Hall is presently awaiting a re-trial on the charge of 1st Degree Murder.
